As we head into the end-of-year period, we're also drawing close to the next Onion Comic Market, Onionket 10. Following the usual 6-months-between-events pattern, the next event is going to be in February, and the date has finally been set. Onionket 10 will be held on the weekend of Febrary 21st and 22nd, 2026. Information on how to create your .onion site circle are available on our website, so those interested in joining, it's never too soon to start getting ready:

In addition to the usual features, Onionket is looking for ways to expand the reach of participating circles, and find new ways to help fans find and support creators. After consulting with some participants on the Onionket Mitra, we've decided to start using Unifans as both a support site for Onionket as an event, and as a proxy donation system during Onionket proper.

ONIONKET ON UNIFANS

Unifans is a Patreon-like support site that's recently gotten some attention amongst creators of R34 art. It's novel feature is that it allows creator supports with both national currencies/traditional payment systems (fiat) and cryptocurrency (in the form of the USDT stablecoin), and the two can be used interchangeably. This means fans can use credit card or other systems to purchase Unifans tokens, donate them to artists, and the artists can withdraw them in USDT to their own external wallets. This can also be done in reverse… with USDT being used to buy tokens, and creators withdrawing supports into fiat. Unifans' system is useful for Onionket since it provides a bridge between fiat and cryptocurrency. While many Onionket circles have links to cryptocurrency addresses on their pages, not all fans are able (or willing) to use them. Some may be willing to use traditional payment systems, but Onionket circles risk losing privacy/security by accepting them.

For Onionket 10, we're planning to use Unifans as a go-between to solve this problem. We've set up an official Onionket creator page on Unifans, which you can see here. At present, the only option is Staff Support for the costs of the event, but during Onionket 10 we're planning to create proxy support plans for participating circles. Fans who want to use Unifans can make one-time payments using their system, and Onionket will forward the amount to the circles in the cryptocurrency of their choice, with proof in the form of transaction IDs to be posted publicly for verification.

Naturally, this will all be strictly opt-in… circles who don't want to participate in using Unifans are still free to join, and handle supports on their own (if at all). Some circles may want to create their own Unifans accounts and cut out the middle-man, and that's fine too. For now, we're only going to test the waters with this and see if it's viable, and popular enough to continue.

The deadline for applications will be decided after the New Year holiday is finished, but will likely be early in February.
